A large collection of photographs and slides of Untermyer Gardens exists as part of the Smithsonian's Archives of American Gardens in Washington, D.C., which may be visited by appointment.
These photographs were taken by the Untermyer family around 1940, when Samuel Untermyer died.

John Lennon visited Untermyer Gardens in 1975, as he had heard they were something not to be missed, even in their deteriorated condition. These photographs were taken by the well known photographer, Bob Gruen, who graciously gave permission to use these images.
